Biography
|
|
Lauren Moss has worked collaboratively and individually on a variety of engaged interdisciplinary projects for over a decade. She has had natural sculptural installations placed at The University of Texas at Tyler, along with several works in printmaking and collage, added to the Collections at the University of Texas at Tyler. Moss obtained her BFA in Art History from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2005. Since she has gotten married and started a family. She has recently moved to the lovely area of Bastrop Texas.

Statement

My artwork takes a analytical view of social, cultural, and emotional subjects involved in my life. Often referencing art history, my work investigates the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art, ancient and modern. Engaging my primal feelings and moments of transcendentalism as well, my art reproduces familiar visual signs, coordinating them into new conceptually layered prints and motifs. While I use a assortment of materials and processes in each print my style is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different series they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work. Each piece often consists of multiple built up layers, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific subject matter and meanings. During production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
