Paula Chilbert

Biography
The Art of Paula C. Chilbert: An early childhood growing up "wild" and untethered in the mountain community of Kittredge just west of Denver, Colorado, established an abiding passion for the outdoors and art. Since those early days, Paula has been perpetually inspired as she observes sketches and paints God's wildest creations. As a lifelong artist, naturalist and art educator (BA in Art Education - University of Northern Colorado), she is regionally renowned for her original and deeply personal artwork depicting the grandeur of the natural world. Many of Paula's works have been permanently installed in a variety of Colorado's nature preserves, including sites for the Colorado Nature Conservancy, the Roaring Fork Conservancy, and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Exhibitions have been plentiful over the past thirty-five years. Her work is found in personal collections worldwide including a major sculpture on permanent display in Qingdao, China (commissioned by the Port of Seattle). Two-dimensional art is her forte with masterworks in pen &ink, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic and oil, while pleine-aire painting is her passion. Paula has traveled extensively and especially appreciates the High Arctic regions. She was an onboard naturalist for many seasons along the Inside Passage from Seattle to Juneau, Alaska. A career highlight includes the design, installation, and worldwide opening of a major exhibit for the Inuit people, "Master's of the Arctic", which opened at the United Nations in New York City in 1989. Paula had the distinct privilege of working in concert with famous exhibit designer Stuart Silver (of the King Tut and Vatican Treasure's renown). Paula has been blessed with overcoming breast cancer two times. She delights in drawing and painting from her studio and home on the plains north of Denver ever encouraged by her husband Dave, her grand-daughter Brooklyn, her daughter Mari, and her son Garth.
