Biography
|
|
Amy Buchheit is a Signature Member of the National Acrylic Painter's Association and a member of the Ridgefield Art Association. In 2003, Amy participated in three national-level juried shows in New York City's Chelsea Art District. In 2004 she exhibited in her first inernational level show at the Seventh Annual National Acrylic Painters Association International Juried Show. Her second international exhibition came in 2005 with the 8th Annual International Society of Acrylic Painters Exhibition in Seattle, WA. The jurors of shows she has participated in, including the Curator of the New York City Guggenheim Museum Robert Rosenblum and Senior Editor of Art in America magazine Janet Koplos have praised her for her skills in composition and color balance. Amy currently resides in Vancouver, Washington with her husband and two cats.

Statement
|
|
Great art evokes an emotional response in the viewer. My goal as an artist is to take you on a journey that allows you to see life as if through a different pair of lenses. My work is rooted in the art of the Australian Aborigines; based loosely on the creation "myths" of The Dreamtime or dealing directly with natural elements. The lines are meant to carry you throughout the piece as a current moves through water, while the dot patterns represent the molecules found in all matter.
