Sharon Grant

Biography
My name is Sharon Grant. I was born and raised in Australia. One could even say that, I was born with a paintbrush in one hand and a pen in the other. As I recall, I was forever drawing/ painting on myself, walls, clothes and other things, where I shouldn't have, since I was a child. It was in my later years that, I began to get serious about painting, in 1995. I was a young mother, who was house bound at the time, so I started to teach myself how to paint, as I had no escape, so painting became my outlet. In the year of 2000 I had make a move from the city to the country. It was a big adjustment for myself, and my children. I didn't take to the area to well at first, as I was, so bored and didn't know what to do, as I couldn't find employment. So once again, I return to painting, but this time decided to study in Fine Arts in 2002, where I completed certificate 111 & IV where I learnt a range of diverse forms of art. I have many works being currently exhibited throughout Albury and Local regions. I have sold many pieces to private collectors, throughout Australia and other countries, I have been commissioned to paint murals and have participation in many group/solo exhibitions. I'm have been commision under Bonegilla Glass as an artist in resistance, where i have also had the opportunity to work along many other great artists.

Statement
Most of my artworks are about feelings and experiences at the time of creating them, while some of these paintings were done in a matter of days, others were more difficult, and took several weeks to achieve the effect I was after. I have travelled to many different places to find "that perfect location" to portray the emotion that I was after.
